Art and Philosophy

Artist says

There is a personal link to philosophy in my work. But I am no dedicated scholar of the subject. The key tenants in my work are observation, expression, and personal responsibility.

Enjoy.

Fearing Abstraction

Lying to myself

Fear is a great motivator to believe the lies I tell myself.

I believed for a long time that abstraction was only valid as an exercise because it had been done so well by those who came before me.

It may have all been done before but the important difference is that it hasn’t all be done by me.

Abstract Explained

Abstract Evolution

A lot more off the cuff today and I feel much better about it. I had to stop worrying about how I would be viewed by history. Some of the terms and definitions I’ve developed for myself aren’t exact so I wonder if I am using them correctly which in turn makes me feel like an idiot. See video for my thoughts on how artwork evolves for an artist through repetition and evolution.
